Some things have been rehashed over and over and over AND OVER in certain Trek-oriented BBS's. Here are the Threads From Hell we'd be only too happy not to see ever again. Some of them have common sense answers to them too, so you'll never have to want to ask them anyway:
- Why didn't the Voyager crew change their uniforms in 6-1/2 years?
Limited resources and no replicator upgrades made at Federation stations are sufficient explanation. It's not enough for the Captain to see Lt. Barclay and get envious to change styles you know.
- What happened to the Borg Baby rescued in "Collective"? Well, either the creative staff at Paramount spazzed out on series continuity, or UPN censored next day's Mess Hall sequence (when everyone was tired of Neelix' Pleeka Rind Casserole).
- Anything on Voyager not running out of shuttles and torpedoes. When the going gets rough: replicate.
- Stuff about Seven that concerns nothing more than her body or her love life <br>Seven of Nine is a beautiful character. The irony was that to her, beauty was irrelevant. The actress did a great job in portraying her, but anything about Jeri Ryan's person is irrelevant to Seven of Nine. You either care for her or you don't, and slurs over her physical person are just too uncivilized for fans of a visionary series. We're not mentioning her nude shot in Q2 when we consider a memorable performance. Instead, we usually cite episodes such as Infinite Regress, Drone, and Raven, all which exhibit Ryan's excellent acting above any other attribute. So there's eye candy. So what? Fringe benefit and relevant to depth of character. But unlike - say - Yeoman Rand in TOS, there is more to watch than curves when Seven is involved.
- "Janeway the criminal" threads I say try getting tossed to the other end of the galaxy and stuck with guerillas for a third of your crew and see how you fare. Janeway has certainly stepped over the line in Starfleet protocol, but so has every other TV captain. Debate the incidents all you want, but throwing inflammatory terminology won't get you far amidst the Voyager fans.
- The Doctor fathered a child in Blink of an Eye?? Beware of people who took the Doctor's cryptic mention of events which had transpired during a 3+ yr away mission in the episode Blink of an Eye literally and actually considered that he FATHERED a son. Then the freakier ones would move in with their theories of concealed hyposprays of reproductive biomatter. I haven't the vaguest idea what was so phenomenal about the Doctor living with a woman and their raising her son. For all we know, he helped deliver the baby and they grew some sort of bond. It's anyone's guess. But there are no guesses as to whether the child could be a biological match to a projection.
- Name Species 8472 They already have a name. I believe it was mentioned at some point that it was unpronounceable for us. Considering that they communicate telepathically, it makes sense. We call them Species 8472. They know we call them Species 8472. If it ain't broke...
