The newsgroup alt.startrek.creative is currently holding its Annual ASC Awards, and a couple of us have been nominated for entries made in 2001. Here are the listings and categories, as well as their notes in italic:
Title: The Doctor vs. Nightmare
Author: HolodocDR
Series: VOY-Marvel Universe xover
Rating: [PG]
Code: Doc, Kes, crew
Part: 1-3/3 NEW
Date: 4/23/01
Author's Notes:This is in response to a challenge posted on ASC by Rob Morris on March 5th 2001 (Subj: EMH Persona Challenge), in which a fictional doctor was to exist among those physician profiles included in the Doctor's programming. I thought Dr. Strange would make an interesting addition (For
those who are not familiar with Dr. Strange, a concise history may be found at www.doctorstrange.net/history.htm . That part of the story resembles a typical early Stan Lee / Steve Ditko Dr. Strange tale; I thought I'd go easy on the Doctor this first time out. I hope - as this is my first time out with a fan fiction - that you folks go easy on me as well.

Wish us luck. I may even be up for best new writer, but there are so many writers who are far more prolific than I am who deserve to duke that one out.

If any of you would like to put in a good word for us, visit the ASC 2001 Awards area. Note that they have a rather eccentric voting method, so be sure to read their instructions and FAQ.
Special mention to perhaps the most hysterical fan fiction at a time we needed it the most. Writer Monkee (her Leonard Series may be accessed via the EMH Journal Indicia page) gave us what deserves to typify the C/7 shipper genre. This was written shortly after we all learned about Human Error early last year. I must say she did a great job in diffusing the first wave of confusion and shock. Warning: This story contains explicit sexual language, so if you're a minor, don't click:
Title: Just Plain Mean
Author: monkee
Series: VOY
Rating: NC-17
Code: C/7, J
Part: 1/1 NEW
Date Posted 25 February 2001
Summary: Hell hath no fury like a J/C er scorned. If Janeway can't have him, then he's not worth having.
Author's Note: This is childish and, well, just plain mean, but it made me feel better. So there. Inspired by rumors about upcoming episodes in season seven.

Good luck, Dr J!
