It's the apex of spring on the earth cycle, a time when the spark of life which came to be in February now bursts forth from the ground or its shell, and is welcomed into the world. Normally, I would have taken the day off to prepare festive foods and meditate before conducting a ritual. But being my first week of employment, I sort of brought the ritual to work. At 12:45 - over 90 minutes before the apex of vernal equinox and the official start of spring, I stood an egg up at my desk. It remained standing until about 3pm. It blew everyone's mind - their having only heard about the phenomenon and thinking it a hoax. What they weren't aware of was that at 2:16pm est, I closed my eyes and visualized myself into about two minutes of meditation. Spirituality thrives from the power of the mind; ritualistic tools are merely props with which to focus one's thoughts, and are entirely optional. I had all the point of focus I needed.

I missed the proper time to balance eggs this spring. I don't think I'll ever break the record of three days. Even then, the only reason it fell was because it was sitting right in front of my toaster where there is heavy traffic and it was bumped. It was an amazing event, for sure.
