Trying to work out what a fiction series is doing on the History Channel.. our version manages to fill 24/7 with real (or speculative) history from around the globe, so why doesn't yours?

Because it was a very faithful account of how it was. The series was lauded for its authenticity and attention to detail. They feature vets during breaks talking about China Beach as they remembered.
