Not in any particular order, here are my ten favorite TNG episodes:
Darmok - Picard and Enigmatic alien speaking in metaphor (Paul "Khan fried my brain with a worm" Winfield).
Measure of a Man - The landmark trial which established the parameters with which all artificial intelligences should be evaluated in the Federation. A pity they forgot about this in Offspring and Voyager's Author, Author
The Offspring - TNG's token tearjerker. Data procreates. Then, some big bad Starfleet admiral traumatizes his daughter to death.
Cause & Effect - A poker game, a headache, and a broken glass...
The Inner Light - Picard experiences an alternate lifetime. Just wow. Schisms - UFOs and Alien abductions are paid homage to in this 24th century scenario.
Emergence - The Enterprise computer gains sentience. The crew tries to figure out what it wants by interacting with characters on the holodeck.
Phantasms - Data adds a sleep function to his program and gets weird dreams.
Hollow Pursuits - Nerd with holodiction has hidden - very well hidden - talents. Reg Barclay's legacy debut.
Eye of the Beholder - Why did the Betazoid leap to his death into a plasma stream? He had no suicidal tendencies. Deanna is on the case, but does she become one in the process?
Bubbling under the Top Ten:
Qpid - Q chucks the crew into a Robin Hood scenario. Best moment: Worf smashes Geordi's lute. Second best moment: "Sir, I must protest! I am NOT a merry man!"
All Good Things - the perfect ending to a perfect series. We come full circle with a clever cosmic whodunit.
Elementary, Dear Data - The computer scares up a sentient hologram of Moriarity to outsmart Data in his Sherlock Holmes holoprogram.

Not in any particular order, here are my ten favorite TNG episodes: My, we're feeling ambitious today, aren't we? ;D I loved this one too. The undercurrent of Picard's prior relationship with the judge, Phillipa Whatsername, added beautifully to the whole feel of the episode. My heart went out to Data when he was forced to talk about his relationship with Tasha Yar, and to Riker when he was forced to betray a good friend in the name of duty. And the bad guy reforms in the end! What more could you ask for? I won't dive into this one as deeply here as I did at speckled duck. I didn't like this episode much at all...we'll just leave it at that. I love every episode that features Reg. It would be fun to watch them all in order and follow the growth of his character across two series and one feature film. Yes, yes, and no. I didn't care much for EDD -- found it a bit slow moving. It's interesting, Doc that only one of the top five episodes of TNG (as chosen by fans for the Pre-Finale "Viewers' Choice Marathon") made your list... Inner Light. Just goes to show what a unique and discerning person you are!

The undercurrent of Picard's prior relationship with the judge, Phillipa Whatsername, added beautifully to the whole feel of the episode. I think we should refer to her as Phillipa Whatsername on this BBS from now on. I'm even willing to program the language filter to do this. It just sounds so good. Let me guess: blah blah blah Best of both worlds and lots of Klingons blah blah blah.

"Phillipa Whatsername" does have pleasant ring to it, doesn't it? Just kind of rolls off the tongue... phillipawhatsername[/color] Anyway, these were the top five episodes in the TNG Viewers' Choice Marathon, hosted by Johnathan Frakes and aired in most markets in the hours leading up to the premire of All Good Things: 5.) Relics4.) The Inner Light3.) Yesterday's Enterprise2.) Best of Both Worlds, Part 11.) (Predictably enough) BOBW2Please note that I am not affirming these choices by listing them. More on that later... Interestingly enough, to my knowledge, there was no "Viewers' Choice Marathon" for Deep Space 9 or Voyager. Can anyone enlighten me?

Oh why am I not surprised? btw I think allowing a two-parter to hog two spots in any poll is cheating. It's one story, and in any viewer's choice, they're not about to show just part one or just part two. I'm surprised something as cerebral and self-contained as Inner Light actually made their top 5. CityTV in Canada had a Voyager Viewer's Choice marathon last yr leading up to Endgame. Not certain if I recall which made it. I guess looking back on my events calendar to May 2001 might reveal the answer. It's on the Sickbay site.

Well, I said I'd have to think about it.............
Arsenal of Freedom. Tension. Arms race evil. Picard/Crusher moments
Conspiracy. Yuk! Brrr. If only they'd followed up on this one.
Loud as a Whisper. The concept of the Chorus. The (eventual) determination to overcome the 'disability' whilst helping to bring about peace.
The Emissary. For me the Klingon episode.
The Survivors. A mystery with a SciFi twist.
Yesterday's Enterprise. Great story. Good 'development' for Tasha (and it gave someone another idea....)
The Drumhead. Tension, drama and no technobabble to be heard anywhere!
Darmok. Again, a story of communication, where the Universal Translator is no help at all.
Unification. The sequel to Yesterday's Enterprise, and a magnificent Spock!
Relics. You can never go home.
Parallels. A great multi-verse mystery story.
Oops, too many all ready. There are more, of course.

I'm trying to decide whether it's better to pull them straight out of memory or go and peruse the complete list at startrek.com ...
Just off teh top of my head I remember the one where Picard went back to his brother after the Borg incident and the ep where they concentrated on the other ranks. Of course the classic big episodes were fantastic but one tends to see them too often. I liked the thinking eps as well.

Unlike Voyager, the titles on TNG often escape me. I need a "the one where..." attached to the name or I'm lost.

I had to refer to the TNG Companion to get the episode titles (and remind myself of the basic plotlines)...
But the DVD's should start to arrive soon, then I'll become a TNG bore (again)
Lwaxana rules, okay?

Okay, I can never remember TNG titles, so there might be a couple of "The one where"s thrown in here...
Relics BOBW part 1 Menage a Troi (I appreciate lameness) Elementary, dear Data Phantasms
The one where the holodeck is first introduced, and Picard & Crusher are messing about with the Dixon Hill program. That cracked me up.
The one where Data starts... uh, dating. I believe Patrick Stewart directed this one. Again, I know it's a bit lame, but I love the TNG comedy episodes. The cast have great chemistry and timing for comedy.
The best one I've seen overall is the one where Picard dies and Q allows him to go back and change his life, then there's this whole alternate lifetime. That one absolutely blew me away.
You'll have to excuse the fact that I haven't seen most of the big TNG eps, so I can't judge 'em.

*trying to reach my first pip very quickly* I also have the problem with the titles of the Episodes, but I'll try since my real family is on the Enterprise D (wel actually E, where I can go playing Doctor on sickbay...*g*) 1. The Inner Light - I don't need to say anything on that one. Unbelievable story and acting by Patrick. 2. A Fistful of Datas - Well, I think it's hella funny. 3. Q-Pid - Well the story is not that great, but I like Jean-Luc's bu.... sight in those tights... 4. Best Of Both Worlds - no word necessary on that, too. 5. The final episode, what was it's name - and if it's only for the last words: And the sky is the limit. I cry e-ve-ry time!
