This morning, I heard the first birds of spring arrive. They made a racket under my air conditioner, arguing over territory and who was going to build their nest there. Staten Island Chuck wasn't kidding.
You already know from other threads that hedges are budding first leaves, lawns are sprouting patches of grass, bushes are budding flowers, and the leaves of various bulbs are emerging from gardens. Yesterday, I saw a crocus trying to croak out of the ground.
Everything is happening a month early here.
I understand we're in a drought situation here as well...
So has spring arrived where you are? Is it the same thing, where flora and fauna are happening drastically ahead of schedule?

The hedges are getting thicker with green buds and leaves at an accelerated rate. This is a faster growing than in the past.
Meanwhile, a friend in Germany reports a similar incident with birds establishing territory and early blooming.
Something is very wrong here...

^^^ Shall I give Mulder and Scully a ring? ;D Spring is a couple of weeks early here too...but rather than fret about it, I've been enjoying it...spending a lot of time playing outdoors with my son and putting in my weekly miles on pavement instead of a treadmill.

They said two nights ago on the news that there is concern over bears waking up from hibernation too early.

Did you not know that St Valentine's day is the traditional day for birds to start courting and nesting? Allegedly. All the magpies seem to be paired up again now, so it is a guaranteed 'Two for Joy' when you see any around.

Did you not know that St Valentine's day is the traditional day for birds to start courting and nesting? Allegedly. Well, I have a better one: It was invented by the card companies way back when.
