...(I've been trying to find time to contribute, really I have... and this is best I could come up with?) I've noticed that TNG and DS9 had several TOS 'acknowledgement' eps: for instance, DS9's alternate universe harked back to the evil Kirk in Mirror Mirror and TNG had one (which I find to my horror that I cannot remember now because it's too late... ). Even TOS had TOS acknowledgement eps! ST:TMP was a rewite and bigger budget Changeling. My question is: were there any eps of Voyager that related directly back to TOS, and I mean by story line rather than having Sulu appear as Tuvok's old captain?

I thought that one was more than fitting. It occurred parallel to events in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Instead of a homage or an alternate, it actually was part of that story.

...and they said that Voyager couldn't hold a story arc!! ;D
It was nice to see Sulu again but I'm quite glad that George Takei wasn't offered the Excelsior series... Still think Enterprise should have been Admiral Janeway set in Starfleet HQ in SF. Maybe the next time - see how she shapes up in STX.

me too... but where I live I don't think that Janeway recognition is going to be much of an issue...

Ain't that the truth! ^^
I didn't miss the acknowledgments at all. They were out in the Delta Quadrant. The only time that any references could reasonably have been brought in were from the database, and what relevance would they have had in their new situation?
So aside from the homage episodes Flashback and Timeless (and the Pathfinder stuff) there really was no need.
edit - whoa I just noticed - Live Fast and Prosper = live long and prosper False Profits - continuing the DS9 trick of prophets/profits and refering to Ferengi..)

False Profits - continuing the DS9 trick of prophets/profits and refering to Ferengi..) In fact, they were a sequel story from TNG. However, I think the expendable one is referring to TOS references only. I thought the whole mood of Voyager made it closer to TOS than the other predecessors. The Kazon reminded me of bad early Klingons. The Thaw could have easily been a campy third season TOS. And lest we forget Icheb's oral report on Captain Kirk in Q2Voyager had the most obvious and at the same time most subtle references to its roots IMHO.

The Thaw could have easily been a campy third season TOS. That must be why I enjoyed that episode so much. It's easily in my top five, and the only Harry-centric episode (given, it's marginal) one to boot. ;D

You know me better... Timeless is somewhere between 6 and 10. But read the post again.

Herm...well, you know my infatuation with basic communication theory...if the receiver can't understand the message, it's not his fault...it's the communicator's. So, as the communicator, let me resend the message: "That must be why I enjoyed that episode so much. It's easily in my top five Voyager episodes, and the only Harry-centric episode to rank so highly. Of course, Thaw is only marginally Harry-centric." Was that better?

I think I got it right the first time, give or take a rank format.

the only Harry show in his top five.....
well that's fair enough. So long as Timeless comes in somewhere!
