Ahh, the The ultimate Star Trek BBS from Hell. Wondered how long it would take for that to come up. Personally, I'm trying to put it all behind me, though if you want someone to reminisce about the 'good old days' tm, I'm probably your lady. Doc, It's certainly not worth adding it to the list of filtered words - threads like this, I'm sure, will come and go. In the circle of online sci-fi BBS's, the The ultimate Star Trek BBS from Hell is something of a behemoth - finding people who haven't been affected by it in some way, particularly when your main readership are all Trek fans is going to be bloody hard. If they remain civil and sensible, best thing to do is simply ride them out. Everyone looses interest eventually.

I want you to know that I sing that darn song every time I see your name. With the edit. I really have to locate a "nutty" type emoticon, don't I? And here I thought the reference to Felix the cat was too obscure; guessed wrong! A nutty emoticon would be nice.....I havent gotten the very big grin to work right. It looks like this when I click the emoticon : ;D *edit* nevermind, it seems to be working now. ;D

"I was out saving the galaxy when your grandfather was in diapers!" ;D I'm right there with you, Dr. Jekyl...perhaps we should start a support group, complete with a 12-step plan?

"I was out saving the galaxy when your grandfather was in diapers!" ;D I'm right there with you, Dr. Jekyl...perhaps we should start a support group, complete with a 12-step plan? Just don't get me started on the 'when I was an admin' or 'when I was a moderator' stories or you'll never hear the end of it. I do like the idea of the 12-step plan... think I've tried them before though. People keep sending me threads I 'have to read', generally about the latest scandal.

Cool...so *you* are the administrator Holodoc referred to cryptically that was a member of this board. The trend there seems to be new admins/mods last only a short time.

The mods for the Voyager forum are the ones which were in charge when I left. Others which either left in disgrace (you-know-who after my posting about that thread in QSF under a different ID) or got fed up and for the most part moderate in TerranBBS for the same forums (I really wanted to filter that venure into something more... exotic). Dr Jekyl did the work which 2-3 people do now for Trektoday. I'm sure she is grateful for the time recouped.

Holodoc, there was one new, different moderator who was actually pretty good. he just resigned. the two current ones in Voyager are pretty awful, who were there before we left back then. Their presence there is very sporadic, and when they are there they seem to imitate Police Chief Wiggum from the Simpson's in their incompetence. One guy, the same moderator who defended his decision in QSF on keeping the rape thread open and even preened about how the rape thread was a "thoughtful discussion" still sucks as badly as ever. ( sorry if this is too blunt ) However, he is held up as a great moderator, which escapes reason, unless of course the sort of chaos he permits is what the board *wants*. There is now a new forum called Moderator Actions ( which basically allows for questioning of mod decisions of the BBS instead of in QSF ). The moderator in charge there ( the one who owned TrekChat quit a couple of days ago because in his words, "it's not about complaints, it's just about a set amount of people going out of their way to spread misery or cause trouble. I can't believe some of the posts here. CaptainWacky is a prime example, reminds me a little bit of a kid craving attention. This guy doesn't even know me, but feels it important to come in and insult me on this thread. Then walks away, and comes back for another swipe. It's pitiful. Not that this offends me. Heck, I'm thick skinned. Takes a lot to offend me. But, I have to ask myself, "Do I want to put up with this in the little free time I have?" The answer is no. " Anyways, the more things change, the more they stay the same eh ?
