Two new pages, sorry for the delay.
Someone deleted the .exe file for downloading the pictures from the camera.....
(not me, subtle hint)
Enjoy.

What are the cool purple flowers in the ones called "A panorama of part of the south facing border, just to put some of this into a context"

Those are the Honesty, which also have their own portrait. Nice, huh?
When the flowers are over they make round 'moon-like' seedheads (hence Lunaria) so I leave them in place to form an interesting background and only remove them after they've seeded and started to look worse for wear in bad weather.

In top pic: is that one of those bleeding heart things in purple amidst the others? In the main page: Is that what Counselor Ross looks like?

Bleeding Heart is Dicentra and no, I think you mean the Honesty (Lunaria). You can see some of the seed pods that give it the latin name, those round thngs.
That's a male blackbird who sat in the tree for half an hour one Sunday afternoon and just sang his heart out for us. It was a lovely day.

Hmph. Dilemma time and its a good job this is Jubilee weekend cos that means 2 days off work to ponder this.
The next door neighbour finally go around to replacing the chain link fence between our properties with a solid wood panelling one, 4 feet high. Which means that my south border is instantly cast into shade, especiallly in winter when the sun will be low. How will the current plants do there? Should I start revising the scheme now or wait until the other half finally gets on with the new garden pond he's been promising for the last six years? Decisions decisions....

That's an elm? How tall is it? Looks like under a meter. The Jacob's Ladder looks cool. Is that a bulb plant? How tall does it get? Does it need constant sunlight? The Allium reminds me of the ball they drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve. Well, at least somebody's campanula worked this year... Nice batch.

1. nearer 10 Metres tall - it's nearly roof height. I cropped the picture to remove the building, that may have given the false perspective.
2. Jacobs Ladder comes from seed or plant division. Yes, it likes it sunny and well drained.
Glad you liked them.
